What is Organic Cacao Powder?
Originating from the tropical climes of South America, the Theobroma Cacao tree is sacred amongst both the Mayans and Aztecs and produces the cacao pods which contain nutrient-rich cacao beans. BULK POWDERS™ Organic Cacao Powder is from the Criollo Cultivar which creates exceptionally high-quality cacao beans.
Production of Cacao Powder begins with the harvesting of raw cacao beans. After cleaning the beans in natural water, they are peeled and the core is extracted to be broken into “nibs”, which are then ground into cacao paste. The fat from the paste is extracted, whilst the residue is dried and finely ground into Cacao Powder. This careful production process ensures that BULK POWDERS™ Organic Cacao Powder ensures retains a significant proportion of its nutritional value, without the addition of any additives. Beware: this is not the case for many cacao or cocoa powders!
BULK POWDERS™ Organic Cacao Powder is a light brown colour with a chocolate-like taste and is an excellent addition to any kitchen cupboard. It is a great alternative to cocoa powder in baked goods, and will provide an intensely rich flavour. The overall taste is not too dissimilar to cocoa, with the main difference being the intensity.
